Memory verse: …The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:6 (NIV)
Praying effectively is not out of human efficiency but, as a result of God’s power. Effective prayer is importunate, vigorous and it produces desirable results.
When we pray, faith is the driving force that gets God to answer us. Do you exercise faith in God when you pray? So many times, we allow our feelings to get on the way and control us. Just like Thomas, we are tempted to always say, “Until I see it happening in reality, I will not believe it is real”. Do you need to see the next day before scheduling appointments and planning what to do? Faith believes without seeing that, God will do as He has promised.
Similarly, our prayer becomes effective when we pray out of a pure heart. That is, no grudge, no bitterness, unforgiveness etc. Many people complain that, their prayers are not being answered but, they never bothered to find out why. If you fall into this category, you might need to search your heart to ensure you are not keeping sin in your life. “If I regard sin in my heart, the Lord will not have listened.” –Psalm 66:18
God has designed prayer as an avenue to communicate with His children. Have you been praying? If your answer is yes, then are your prayers effective? It is not just enough to pray round the clock, yet with a fruitless impart. You need to cultivate a fruitful prayer life, pray in faith and ensure your heart is right before God.
Meditate on this: Groanings which cannot be uttered are often prayers which cannot be refused.” – Charles Spurgeon.
