Text: Colossians 1:13-14   Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son

The death of our Lord Jesus on the Cross of Calvary brought redemption for mankind. It rescued us from destruction and eternal damnation. He purchased freedom for us, using His sinless blood as the ransom for this ultimate sacrifice.

God created man to have a relationship with Him. He made everything available to man and gave him dominion over all things, but, God commanded him never to eat a certain fruit, from The Tree of Life. Then came Satan, as the cunning serpent and deceived the woman into eating the forbidden fruit, thereby bridging the trust and destroying the relationship man had with God. As a result of this singular disobedience, sin entered into the world, man became slaves to Satan and was caged in his prison of sin.

God was not pleased by the lives of the people He created because, satan had them under bondage that, they couldn’t do good things even when they wanted to. Satan tossed man to and fro. He manipulated and controlled all his actions. It was at this point that, Jesus Christ offered up Himself as a sacrifice to restore man from the bondage of Satan.

Jesus died on the Cross because of the love He has for you and I. The scripture tells us in John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. What can truly equate the love that Christ displayed in order to set you free? The penalty for sin is death but Christ Jesus reversed it. What a love! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Satan is the god of this world and evil abound in him. If you are still living in sin, it means you are being controlled by the works of Satan, you are still under his bondage. The death of Jesus which we are celebrating purchased freedom for you. That is, if you are tired of the way you are living and you desire to experience a definite change in your life, then take an action of faith and embrace the freedom which was gotten for you over two thousand years ago. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and you need a savior.
  2. Confess your sins to God and ask for forgiveness.
  3. Believe in the Lord Jesus that He is the Son of God.
  4. Invite Jesus into your life.
  5. Accept Him as your Lord.
  6. Say this prayer out of a sincere heart:

Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord.  Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life.  Make me the kind of person You want me to be.”

Meditate on this:

It was not the nails that held Jesus to the cross; it was His love for you and I.
