AUGUST 21, 2017 – WHAT IS IN A NAME?

Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name. Philippians 2:9 A name defines and helps form ones identity.  A name therefore, is an integral part of a person’s embodiment. Names carries authority, they are symbolic and wields prestige. Everything in life has a name attached to it, whether a living or non living thing. Today, we will be looking at a name which has been highly lifted above every other names in heaven and in earth. AUGUST 16, 2017 – FED BY THE RAVENS – (2)

And the word of the Lord came unto him saying, get thee hence and turn thee eastward and hide thyself by the Brook Cherith that is before Jordan. And it shall be that, thou shall drink of the brook and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. – 1 Kings 17: 3, 4  Elijah obeyed God and went to the brook of Cherith, not reasoning what the outcome might eventually be. Motorists hated that road, I personally disliked the sight of it, and each time I get...

JULY 31, 2017 – Jesus: Our Model

The one who says he abides in Jesus ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. 1 John 2:6 Modeling our lifestyle after someone implies portraying the characteristics of the individual. As Christians, our standard model is Jesus Christ. Therefore, being a Christian means being Christ-like, that is, living out the lifestyle of Jesus. The word Christian was first mentioned in Antioch when Paul the apostle and other disciples of Jesus were preaching the gospel. There, the disciples were called Christians because; their lifestyle and general characteristics represented that of our Lord Jesus. As they preached the gospel and embarked on their daily businesses, the life of Christ was seen in them. Most times, we can say that a child’s attributes and mannerism depicts that of his father or his mentor. This is so because; the child had carefully emulated his father or mentor’s lifestyle as the case may be. On the other hand, a tree is known by the fruits it bears. We can differentiate one tree from another not necessarily by its leaves but; by its fruits. A mango tree cannot bear an apple fruit neither would a lion give birth to a puppy. As much as it is with nature; so it is with the life we live as Christians. However, it is quite unfortunate that some believers need to introduce their identity...
