People have the habit of commonizing things, and gradually reducing its effect to a point that, its true meaning can barely be remembered. The consequence for this is that, people won’t be able to walk in the fullness of whatever it is and enjoy the accrued benefits. One of such things is GRACE. We will take a quick look at this subject in line with Spiritual Authority.
Grace, A True Definition of Jesus
Following man’s treason against God in the Garden of Eden, God sort to reconcile man back to Himself. However, this could not be done permanently by the slaughtering of animals for sacrifices. A life had to be given in place of another and none was sufficient enough than the blood of Jesus Christ, to atone for the sins of men forever. (Heb9:11-15, 24-26)
Now, Grace is that unmerited favour we have before God by virtue of the finished work of Jesus. Unmerited in the sense that, we don’t deserve the things God does for us neither can we make payment for them because, it’s been taken care of by Jesus. Favour in itself is a good deed done to someone beyond what they deserve. The bible says, grace and truth came through Jesus (John 1:17) which means, we began to enjoy the grace of God following Jesus’ visit to the earth to reconcile man to God. So, Jesus became that access to a whole new world of righteousness, favour, prosperity, divine health, power, superior living as it were; but this is only possible through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour.
The Point of Synergy
When a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, they automatically have access to the throne room of God without any hindrance because, Jesus has made them righteous (Heb4:16). This right standing before God means, you are holy enough to come to Him whenever and wherever. Although not of your own righteousness but that of Jesus our great High Priest. This is why we can boldly stand before God and through the name of Jesus, ask Him anything we need and expect results (John 14:13-14). When Jesus reconciled man back to God, He made available abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness for us to reign in this life (Romans 5:17), but we will need to receive it (by accepting Jesus Christ) before it works, it is not automatic. Power was given to us by Jesus (Luke 10:19) because He owns it (Matthew 28:18). However, it is given only to those who believe in Him. To even make it more beautiful, the bible says, when Jesus died and ascended to heaven, He sat at the very right hand of the Father, far above all principalities and powers (Ephesians 1:20-22) and that’s exactly where we (the believers are) (Colossians 3:1-3).
Subsequently, the result of the above is that, you as a believer have God’s approval to exercise your authority through the name of Jesus for whatever situation you find yourself. However, the problem is that, most Christians are not aware of this awesome power available at our disposal, as a result, the devil tends to ride on that opportunity as he knows you don’t have a clue of what belongs to you. I mean the bible clearly says that, the same spirit that raised our Lord Jesus from the dead is in us! (Romans 8:11). All we need to do is find out what the word of God says for whatever situation it is and speak in line with His word which is His will. Now that legalises it and power flows in that direction according to your faith.
What You Need to Do
- Study the word of God to know who you are and what is rightfully yours
- Believe the word of God wholeheartedly
- You have been set free from sin and any condemnation, therefore remain righteous before God.
- Declare what you want to see and stand like a soldier that you are till you see the results
- Have faith in God.
- Walk in love always. Unforgiveness will destroy your prayers. You can’t use the weapon of the enemy to stand against him. You will fall flat.
- The power handed over to you is legal and has the backing of heaven. Never forget that.
- Never doubt the word of God, neither walk in fear.
- Steer clear of people who won’t rub off positively on your faith.
- It’s ok to start exercising your authority through minor challenges till your faith can take on bigger ones.
- Forget about how it will be done, it’s none of your business. Focus on your part and leave the how to God.
Spiritual authority is a product of Grace. We cannot exercise our authority as believers without the unmerited favour of God which brought us salvation and made us righteous before God. It is something every believer must understand in depth as it is the foundational truth for living the superior life.
A believer is one who has been redeemed by Jesus Christ and therefore, is seated with him in the heavenly places. A believer has the full right to declare things because Jesus has made him righteous by grace. You can’t exercise your authority if you don’t know who you are in Christ or what your rights are. Only the bible can tell you that. So study and speak what you desire according to the word of God because, the devil obeys only the word of God coming from your mouth; stand your ground in faith and then watch angels disperse in full speed to get it done.
STUDY IT, SPEAK IT. BELIEVE IT, ACT IT
