But Naaman was wroth and went away, and said, “Behold, I thought, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and cure the leper”  2 Kings 5:11

Blessings come from different angles, usually from unexpected sources. Oftentimes, we have our heart set on receiving God’s promises and benefits from our own human perspective, not necessarily how God wants it to happen.

Naaman the captain of the army of Israel who had leprosy was instructed by Prophet Elisha to bath in river Jordan for seven times for cleansing. He assumed it to be an insult, probably because; he expected a more complex task. He imagined how a great man like him will bow so low to bath in a common river. All he expected the man of God to do was to act in a dramatic way and cleanse him of his leprosy – how wrong he was.

In life, the corners where people bury their hearts seeking for solution is far from being attainable. Therefore, even when they open a certain scripture like Isaiah 53:5 which says: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” they belittle it because, their heart is fixed on seeing a minister shout, jump around and blast in tongues before they can believe they are healed. God is not an entertainer!

Obeying God even in the most little and insignificant things bring blessings. Lack of obedience to God’s commands normally is as a result of a fixed mindset. When there is a fixed mindset for something, the heart blocks every other possible solution, even the promises of God at that point, appears like a vapour.

Our relationship with God demands a constant obedience to God’s precepts and instructions. Are you selective of God’s commands and wonder why things aren’t working out for you? Every promise of God that you claim will expressly be yours if you will obey the rules therein. Are you willing to do it? Samuel told King Saul in 1 Samuel 15:22 “To obey is better than sacrifice”

Mary the mother of Jesus tells Christ’ disciples In John 2:5 “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” This is very instructive. Today, make it your choice to obey God in your everyday life and activities. There are amazing blessings in heeding to God’s commands.
