The world is under unnecessary pressures. Pressure from peers, pressure from family members, pressure from the society and pressure from oneself. This new wave of pressure leads to unfulfilled dreams, honouring men other than God, and being an enemy to oneself.
Saul the first king of Israel, consented to the pressure by his kinsmen to offer sacrifice to God, knowing the obvious – he was not a priest. He rather hearkened to the voice of men than heeding the commandments and instructions of God. The consequences were grave, and he, not the people, paid dearly for it.
Similar to the account of king Saul, we have people who are under pressure by friends and families, to reject the invitation of establishing a relationship with God. They are considering what people might say than what God had stated. In the case of king Saul, he perished alongside his family. Most of those people who, pressurized and misled him did not perish with him, instead, they learnt great lessons through his downfall. Would you rather yield to people and be rejected by God?
The dangers of yielding to the pressures around us are devastating. Day by day, thousands go to eternity unprepared without having to take that wise step of making Jesus their Lord. Are you under any kind of pressure to please people and displease God? Jesus is reaching out to you now. Remember, the journey through life is a personal one, if you are living to please society and friends, what will you tell God on the last day?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.” 1 Samuel 15:22,23
