Text: I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. – Psalm 121:1

Focus is said to be the center of interest or activity, the state of having or producing clear visual definition.  The psalmist’ attitude in the above passage explicitly explains what it truly means to have focus.

Having focus is basically, where you invest your trust, resources, time and energy. It will be first registered in the heart before it can be put into action. From another perspective, we can say, the direction of your eyes explains where you are heading to. This is true because, you can’t for example, be looking backward while your legs will carry you forward.

King David in the above text says; “I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from where do my help come from, my help come from the Lord who made the heavens and the earth”. The psalmist understood the law of focus and direction; he knows his eyes cannot be focused on men while he expects to receive help from God. That will be a contradiction. Wherever your eyes are looking at, that is where your focus is and your whole life therefore, revolves around it.

The psalmist focused on God because he understands that, without God, no man can achieve anything. People make mistakes in life when they focus on man or focus on their carnal might. They believe in a human being more than they choose to believe in God. The life of King David was majorly successful as a result of his unwavering trust and dependence upon God – God called him, a ‘man after my own heart’. Are you like The Psalmist?

‘Looking unto Jesus who is the author and the finisher of your faith’- Hebrews 12:2. When life starts off with its drama, when situations hops around like a frog, lift your eyes to heaven and you will receive help. I do not mean you should physically look upwards, I mean, make conscious efforts to build your hope in God. Commit your endeavors to God, seek His guidance before making decisions and trust me, you will never hit the rock.

Dreams become a struggle the moment you sideline the reveler of that dream. You see, God places dreams and visions inside our hearts, only Him also can bring it to reality. If you must succeed and be on the right direction in life, then keep your eyes steadily focused on God.
