I have received a command to bless; God has blessed, and I cannot change it. No misfortune is seen in Jacob, no misery observed in Israel. The Lord their God is with them; the shout of the King is among them. – Numbers 23:20, 21.
The benefits that believers receive from being under the shadow of The Almighty God cannot be overemphasized. Being under the watchful eyes of the King of the whole earth, whose eyes see all things at all times, this is a great blessing.
The text above is extracted from the popular story of Balaam and Balak which highlights the great importance of being loved by God. Let me give you an overview of the story. (See details in Numbers chapters 22-24)
King Balaak was not happy with the prosperity of God’s children (The Israelites) thus, he summoned a prophet of God called Balaam to curse them. Balaam out of greed accepted the offer, tried severally to place a curse on the children of God alas, God did not allow it. Instead of cursing the children of God, He proclaimed blessings upon them.
Here is the point, king Balaak was unable to curse and destroy the children of God because, the presence of God abides with them. They lived in obedience to the commandments of God; as a result, no harm was able to come upon them.
Are you living a pleasing life unto the Lord? Are your ways alright before God? Do you have a relationship with The Almighty God? You see, when your life pleases God, and the presence of God abides with you, heaven will be in charge of your affairs. If anything or anyone tries to touch your life, they will be doing so at their own detriment.
The children of God (the story under study) didn’t even know that king Balaak was planning evil against them. All they did was to please God, and walked around on their businesses while the King of Kings took care of their enemies. God will take care of you, if you can steadfastly walk with Him in godliness and holiness, because He honors those that honor Him.
Beware of sin, it destroys! Nothing diminishes God’s presence around believers like sin – God hates sin. If you earnestly desire to enjoy God’s presence, ensure your heart will always be pure before God.
