For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

Several years ago, I asked myself these most frequently asked questions among the youths; who am I? What is my purpose on earth? How can I ever fulfill this purpose? Will my dreams ever come true? As my young mind pondered over these endless questions, I embarked on a journey; in search of my undiscovered identity.

I read many books on the subject, I inquired for people’s opinions about me, I considered what my parents wanted me to become. Then, I never bothered to consult The One who, discovered and designed me; The One who had a purpose in mind before bringing me forth into this world.

During my search, I had an unfulfilled journey while trying to do things on my own. One day, I realized that; though an airplane, a ship, a car and a train are all means of transportations, they are not all designed to use the same means. That marked the renaissance of my purpose. I knew, I was created for a specific purpose.

Simply put, purpose is the reason for which something is done or being created. A lot of people are still trying to be who they were not made to be. Either to please the people around them; or to have a personal sense of achievement. There is a cry for satisfaction in their hearts, there is a large uncultivated field in their lives, and there is a quenched fire in them that need to be ignited.

Revealing what you are created for is the work of God who made you not the job of any man. It’s like asking an investment banker what The Wright Brothers had in mind when they invented an airplane. So many persons are on the wrong journey in discovering who they are. Some are following the trend to engage in what is not theirs. The case of Peter in Luke chapter 5 is a typical example of engaging in a fruitless enterprise other than what you are made to be.

Discovering your purpose start first with, establishing a relationship with God, The Creator of your destiny. The will of God for man’s existence is to have a father-child relationship. Integrate yourself with Him and follow His plan concerning you. Have you done that? It is only when you get acquainted with God that, your purpose will divinely start revealing itself without struggle.

“Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord.  Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life.  Make me the kind of person You want me to be.”
