THE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING

SOW WHAT YOU WANT TO REAP.

Text: Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Galatians 6:7

Every farmer understands the principle of sowing and reaping. This principle is applicable to everyone irrespective of your race, belief or skin colour. It is an irrevocable principle; it is a law of life.

In life, we reap whatever we sow whether good or evil. You cannot plant a mango seed and expect to harvest rice in return. The same is true about people who sow wickedness and expect to reap peace, joy and love; it doesn’t work on the reverse way. Little wonder the bible says in Genesis 8:22 “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest time…shall not cease. This implies that, as long as there is life, we receive in the same measure and sometimes even more of what we put in.

Therefore, anything you desire, that you should sow into the life of another person. How does it work? If you desire to be loved, sow love into the life of someone else. Be kind and affectionate with people you meet daily. Show interest in the lives and problems of others, by so doing, the same action of love and care will be deposited into your life by someone else.

In a related view, Luke 6:38 says “give and it shall be given unto you, good measure pressed down, shaken together and running over shall men give unto your bosom”. Not minding the economic situation of the country presently, it is important you understand that, when you do not give, you will not receive. Thus, giving generously to meet the desperate needs of the less privileged in the society positions you also, to receive great returns.

This principle of sowing and reaping is not limited to actions or practical events; it equally affects your decisions. If you take a major decision to work smart, develop yourself and make wise choices, you are securing your future with abundance. Decisions such as who to marry, where to live, carrier choice and the crop of friends to associate with should be meticulously handled as they are seeds that yield commensurate harvest.

On the contrary, some persons breath out wickedness and cruelty, how can such an individual expect happiness and favour in return? ‘God is not mocked, whatever a man sows, that he will reap” Have you considered the above passage? You might need to start examining your own life if there are ways you are sowing wrongly into your life generally and into your future in particular.

More importantly, what are you sowing into your eternity? Anyone who sows righteousness and holiness will reap eternal life while those who sow sin and condemnation into their lives will harvest eternal destruction. What seed are you sowing? As a farmer receives a similar seed he puts into the ground, likewise shall people partake in the results of their actions and decisions. It is your choice.

Meditate on this: If you don’t like what you are reaping, change what you are sowing.
