THE POWER TO BE SAVED.
TEXT: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Becoming a child of God is the work of the Holy Spirit not the power or ability of any man. When the seed of the word is sown into the heart, The Spirit of God quickens the hearts of the recipients and releases the grace to becoming sons and daughters of God to them.
I have come across many people who feel that, being religious, that is; belonging to a family of God, paying tithes, saying their morning prayers and all that, guarantees them to be in a relationship with God. Some believes that, it is by keeping the religious laws that seals their salvation. That is not so, God and only God has the power to make us His dear children.
If you are saved by the things you do, then there is no need for grace. Nobody deserves the right to eternal life because; all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)Jesus Christ came to give us life eternal out of grace not that anyone of us truly merits it.
We cannot be saved by our own innate ability neither can anyone of us maintain our salvation by our might; God’s grace makes it all possible. If you’ve been wondering what it really means to be saved, then I will explain.
Salvation means confessing your sins to God, then believing and accepting Him as your Lord and personal Saviour. Have you done that before? It is a personal decision which is done by faith. As you do so, God will give you the power to become a child of God. He will change your heart and make your life new.
If you have not done this before and have desired to be in a relationship with God, this is your chance, don’t let this opportunity pass you by. You can invite Jesus into your heart anywhere you are; it must not only be in the church. God is more interested in the seriousness of your heart. This is a suggested prayer you can pray:
Lord Jesus, I come to you as I am. I confess my sins to you (mention them) please forgive me. I accept you into my heart this day as my Lord and Saviour, please give me the power to be your child and to continue loving you. I surrender my entire life to you. Lord make me the person you want me to be, in Jesus name I have prayed, amen.
